There’s nothing like a good tech glitch to serve up a life metaphor on a silver platter.

The other day, I was updating a blog post—just a small tweak, a couple of new sentences. Easy-peasy. I hit save, double-checked the update, and sent it off. Except… the company I was working with emailed back saying they couldn’t see any changes.

Cue the confusion spiral.

I checked again—yep, the update was there! So I did the responsible thing: took a screenshot and sent it back. Then they sent their screenshot. No changes. What in the tech gremlin sorcery was happening?!

I opened an incognito window, and sure enough—there it was, the old version. Mocking me. How could I see something on my end that wasn’t visible to the rest of the world?

After some frantic Googling and a mildly panicked message to my web admin, I noticed a button in my dashboard that I’d never paid attention to before: Purge Cache.

One click. One refresh. And just like that—bam!—the new version appeared for everyone.

And suddenly, it hit me. This is my life right now.

Clearing Out the Old to Make Space for the New

For the past few years, I’ve been deep in the work—personal growth, inner healing, all the things. I see the changes happening inside me. I feel them. And yet… sometimes the world doesn’t seem to reflect those upgrades back to me.

Instead, my inner critic keeps dragging out the old version, whispering things like:
“You’re stuck.”
“You should be further along by now.”
“Why are you so tired all the time?”

Oh, right—because I’m 48 and perimenopause is a thing. Brain fog? Check. Fatigue? Yup. Metabolism slowing down like a Windows 95 reboot? Absolutely.

And yet, despite all of that, the people around me keep reflecting something different. They tell me I’m grounded. That I’m a calming presence. That they see me growing, expanding, evolving.

And just like that outdated blog post, my inner cache is still holding onto an old version of me—one that I’ve already outgrown.

What If We All Need a Cache Purge?

How often do we cling to old stories, old identities, old patterns—simply because our mental “cache” hasn’t caught up to reality?

How often do we assume people haven’t changed because we’re still viewing them through the lens of their past?

What if the only thing standing between us and seeing the truth is a refresh?

This moment, this world—it’s a strange one. On one hand, it feels like there’s so much division, so much uncertainty. And yet, at the same time, I see people choosing connection, building new ways of understanding each other, seeing beyond the surface.

And maybe, just maybe, that’s the lesson here. We need to be willing to update our perspective. To clear out the outdated stories. To make space for the people we are becoming—ourselves included.

So if you needed a reminder today (as I did), here it is:

✨ You are not who you used to be.
✨ The world might not see your upgrades immediately, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t real.
✨ Sometimes all it takes is clearing the cache to let the new version shine through.

Now, if only there were a button for instant hormonal balance…

Let me know—what’s an old version of you that you’re ready to update? Drop a comment or send me a message. Let’s hit refresh together.
