All about Sheepy, my colorful business mascot

Table of Contents

This is Sheepy.
He was drawn by my son, Owen, as my new professional logo.

Why a rainbow sheep?

Since I started my business, my logo has incorporated a butterfly.

I saw the story of how a caterpillar has to, literally, break itself down into gelatinous cellular goo before it can transform into a butterfly as the symbol for my story and the work that I do with clients.

And, yes, growth sometimes feels traumatic. Especially during these turbulent times.

But, what came up as I’ve been sitting with my discomfort, is that we don’t go through one transformation.

We don’t become the butterfly and then get to float along on the breeze for the rest of our lives.

Becoming the butterfly had been my goal.

And, honestly, a goal I wanted to have had achieved yesterday.

“WTF am I not the butterfly yet?!” I used to scream into the ether during the hardest moments. “How much more work do I have to do?!”

Part of my heaviness was the unsustainability of thinking that I should have had my transformation already.

It became self-traumatizing.

I outgrew the butterfly.

As a rainbow sheep, Sheepy represents my desire to be connected to the flock (not excluded like a black sheep). But, I also no longer want to blend in and hide my voice and talents in the sea of conformity among white sheep.

Sheepy brings the message that we’re all magical phenomena, unique beings who are here on this planet, in this time, to shine brightly.

To share our gifts – all of our colors – with the world.

Sheepy and I have a message, and a mission.

Sheepy and I wish for you to know that you are special.

Your presence in this world matters.

Each and every day, in the work you do, in the interactions you have – no matter how small or inconsequential they may feel, you are creating ripples, planting seeds, that will impact others now and for generations to come.

So take your time to observe and reflect.

To reconnect with your values and the people who matter most to you.

This is your chance to feel and heal and inspire others to know their worth.

To be unapologetically you.

A rainbow sheep in a global flock.

Thank you for being you,

Hi, I'm Marisa

I’m a playful parenting coach, yoga teacher, and board certified genetic counselor for parents and children who feel overtired and underappreciated trying to keep up in this busy, turbulent world. I help them tap into their own super powers so they can transform struggles into more snuggles!

Last winter, I roomed with a woman I'd only known Last winter, I roomed with a woman I'd only known through Zoom squares and online community chats.

@eboniltruss is joy and light personified. Dancing along to a YouTube workout one minute, handing you sage advice (and the warmest hug) the next.

So when Eboni asked if I wanted to collaborate on something, I said yes before she even told me what it was!

It's Recalibrate — a free bundle of 11 books, journals, and workbooks for women asking themselves, at the halfway mark of the year, "was I moving toward something, or just moving fast?"

My book, Everybody Celebrates, is one of the available titles.

It's all FREE through July 26th. https://eboniltruss.com/recalibrate

Happy reading!

I'm so so so honored to call Karen and Phil (and their kiddos!) at @countyroadbakery friends. And getting to see their new home while I was home last week was a highlight of the trip!

If you're within driving distance of Calicoon, NY do not pass up an opportunity to stop by for a smile and babka (or cinnamon roll or blueberry cheesecake or all of the above - no judgement here!)

All gluten free and made with love!

My heart is absolutely broken. For over 500 days My heart is absolutely broken.

For over 500 days we prayed for their safe return.

Even as word started to spread that they were no longer alive, we prayed that there had been a mistake.

We held their father and husband in our hearts, having just watched him be released by the same terrorists who tortured him for 492 days.

Today, not only are we learning that the boys were brutally murdered sometime around November 2023, but that it is likely their mother was not one of the bodies handed over yesterday. An unknown person in the coffin that bore her name.

The power of the Jewish people for millennia has been to open our hearts to feel both deep grief and the infinite love at the same time.

As I sit with the crushing ache in my chest, as tears roll down my face and I find it harder to breathe, literally and figuratively, a closed door in the house creaks then opens.

Today hurts. But I will not give up.

I will continue to feel everything.
I will continue to speak up and out.

We will heal.
We will survive.
We will rise.

Tikkun Olam, repair the world.
Leave the world better than you found it.
Spread light.
Spread love.

In honor and memory of Kfir and Ariel.
May their souls fly high.

Ready for more play?

Early yogis used imagination and creativity to stretch their bodies and reduce their stress. How about you?

5 Ways to Play More are the same tools I incorporated on and off the yoga mat with my children after my burnout. They helped, not only in my healing journey, but in creating a deeper connection with my kids than I could have ever imagined.
