It’s hard to lead a mindful family
when you’re living a mind-full existence.

2020 was a frigging rollercoaster, am I right?

And, if you’re like most women I know, you’re freaking tired!

Tired of COVID.

Tired of having your routine shaken, of not knowing what day it is.

Tired of not knowing if school is going to reopen, and, while it’s closed, of managing your children’s distance learning.

Tired of worrying about your family’s health – both physical and mental.

Tired of worrying about finances.

Tired of trying to manage daily routines and working from home with a house full of people.

Tired of laundry and cooking and cleaning up toys left lying on the floor.

Tired of your kids whining at you, you nagging them, and them bickering with each other.

Tired of never having time or space to just get just five minutes to yourself.

Tired of feeling under-appreciated.

You know that someday, you’ll look back on 2020 with hindsight and you’ll miss this time when they were younger and still needed you and you had so much more time to spend together.

But right now, you’re. just. tired.

First things first. Just breathe. A nice, long deep breath. Everything you’re feeling is totally normal. Yes, it’s uncomfortable and frustrating and hard. But, it’s normal.

You’re not alone. Stay strong, momma. And trust that things can change. It’s entirely possible to create more ease and joy – even in the face of challenges and hardships.

How would it feel if you could wake up each day knowing that, like Mary Poppins, you’ll be able to find more fun so -snap- the job of parenting feels like a game you’re glad to be playing?

How would it feel to trust that, even on your bad days, you’re providing an environment where your children are growing up feeling safe, loved, and connected, setting a foundation for them to thrive now and in the future?

HI! I’m Marisa!

As a mom of two, I know that parenting is the hardest job I’ve ever had. Kids don’t come with a user manual. And, many times, my husband and I weren’t always on the same page about how to do things.

When my boys were little, my inner perfectionist ran the show. She spent a lot of time comparing our family to others I’d see, convinced that, because our house looked like a Lego monster had vomited all over and the laundry pile was taller than my baby, not only wasn’t I going to win mother-of-the-year, I was an absolute failure at being a mother.

It didn’t matter that my kids were fed and healthy, everyone else seemed to have their shit together but me and it made me feel unworthy and inadequate.

In trying to live up to some curated version of a “perfect” supermom, I physically and mentally burnt out. And, the negative effects of the pressure I was placing on my children was obvious in their behavior. They whined, slept poorly, and threw tantrums.

My recovery journey was long and painful. But, burning out led me to recognize and reconnect what I knew to be true from my background as a genetic counselor: each and every one of us is unique and different. And, when we tap into our core values and embrace our innate strengths, we build resilience, confidence, and self-awareness and create a strong foundation for us and our children to thrive now and in the future!

Today, I combine my scientific background as a board-certified genetic counselor with my training as a family-centered yoga teacher and parenting coach, to help busy parents and children go from feeling tired and disconnected to finding more fun, ease, and joy together – on and off the mat.
